The River Institute Manifesto

Welcome to the journey to the soul of the our world

The River Institute was founded on September 9, 2009, (09/09/09) as a forum for discussion, promotion and development of spiritual life.

It is our belief that the single most important challenge facing all peoples in these times, is the imminent environmental, societal and political crises which will develop as humanity witnesses the constant breakdown and disruption of Gaia’s supporting systems.

We believe that all other concerns are dwarfed by the harbinger of these disasters.

We believe that only a spiritual awakening on an individual-by-individual basis can avert or lessen the destruction which humanity is wilfully and ignorantly plotting to wreck on itself and on all other life on this planet.

We believe that only a rising of consciousness to realisation of the interconnectiveness and inter-dependence of all matter and sentience can avert the coming harm.

We believe that it is the transgressions of humanity upon its self and upon all other beings that will bring the great dying times

We believe that by forming a quorum for open discussion of spirituality without ancestral or tribal constraints of power and control, we can be mid-wives of a new kind of awareness which will take us into the next stage of our journey. Without this awareness, we fear that the species, Humanity will perish and Gaia will choose another manner of expressing herself through destruction followed by a time of rejuvenation and re-birth.

We believe that although we may not be able to stop this destruction, we may be able to mitigate its effects and it is our fervent hope that somehow humanity will survive, as a more enlightened race of compassionate beings who act with a vision of the whole.
